The Famous Georgetown Train Loop

I love driving up to Georgetown to have picnics at the lake there. It is by far one of the coolest places to be in the summer time. I have been up there a number of times and have yet to ride the famous George town loop. I hope to do that with my daughter this summer. Here is some info on it for those of you are also interested in riding the train.

Highlights: Engine No. 12, the last steam engine being used by the Kahului Railroad Company to haul freight back in the 1950s, will be part of the Georgetown Loop Historic Mining and Railroad Park''''s summer schedule that begins on Memorial Day. RailstarCorp of Cape Vincent N.Y., is the new operator of the Georgetown scenic trail after the Colorado Historical Society, which owns the tracks between Georgetown and Silver Plume, and the owners of Georgetown Loop Railroad, which has operated the trains the past 30 years, where unable to come to terms with a new contract.

Departures: Departures begin at 10:05 a.m. through September 2nd and at 11:30 a.m. through October 2nd.

Fares: $16.50 adults, $11.25 children 3-15, $11.25 children, and 2-and-under sitting on a parent or guardian's lap. An optional tour of the silver mine is $6 for adults, $4 for children 3-15.

What is Kinetics, you ask? It's the biggest and best outdoor party of the year in Boulder, where teams show off kinetically designed sculptures (they don't have to be fancy - two in a canoe will do) that race over both land and water, where live music fills the air at the Boulder Reservoir, where you can dress in crazy costumes and just have fun in the sun!

This year you'll be musically entertained by World Class Artists Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Ozomatli on the Boulder Reservoir beach as well! Tickets available now through Ticketmaster.
